Introduction
First and foremost, I'd like to explain where "Cocoy McCoy" was derived. People who know me since childhood surely do know why, but other people would ask why "Cocoy McCoy"? It is derived from my nickname Maricor. I was used to be called as "Cocoy" by my childhood friends (one of my best friends-Connie!). One of my aunts and cousins used to call me McCoy, so I put them together and these rhyme very well as my pen name "Cocoy McCoy”...
My motto in life: Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe. -Gail Devers.
Why am I writing now? I haven't had the slightest idea that I have this creativity in writing lyrics. I only knew that my grandmother used to write poems and could sing or narrate it. She could instantly create a poem describing the person. I remember, when somebody had a birthday, she would instantly narrate a poem to the celebrant.
On the night of the 4th of November’2013, I started writing a story of myself, after finishing a page, I thought, "No, writing is not for me, it takes so long to finish it". My husband told me why not write some poems or make songs out of them? It was then I decided to write lyrics. To my surprise I could finish a rhymed lyrics that evening, it’s titled “Stranger”, my very first creation.
On the same evening when I went to bed, I had this dream which unfortunately I couldn’t remember when I woke up the next day. Only after a few days later when I saw the pictures on the TV News, I remembered what my dream was all about.
It was like a miracle happened, since the night I dreamt, I started to write lyrics, just like “peeling some peanuts and eating them”. I became aware what duty “the One up there” has in store for me. It came clear to my mind that my duty is to help the less privileged children through creating my own lyrics and respectively my own music….
Also, I truly believe in a saying that "Everything happens for a reason"...
